Dan's vocal training has - and this is not hyperbole - seriously changed and improved my life. I came to Dan as a young recording artist who lacked prior proper training, and Dan crafted a unique, comprehensive plan to help me reach my singing/performing goals - as he does with all of his students. From the very beginning, he has supplied me with all the techniques necessary to flourish as a singer - and he's also just a blast to hang out and sing with.
Dan's knowledge of the craft is certainly undisputed, and yet he is able to impart these techniques in a friendly way, which meant I looked forward to every lesson. As we worked, Dan created an incredibly helpful, original set of recordings for me to take home and on the road. These have been quintessential in my practicing, and I will continue to use them as guides and warm-ups for years to come.

I have been working with Dan for many months and it has been a wonderful and unique experience. His teaching focuses on not only the physical but the mental aspect of being a vocalist and in my case a songwriter as well. I have learned many techniques that allow me to feel more confident in my recording sessions and live performances. Dan really cares about his students and goes above and beyond to give us time and care. He is flexible with his hours and is incredibly accommodating for artists with busy schedules. Dan helped me push myself to where I knew I was capable of going. His approach to coaching was making me believe in myself and that made me see potential in myself. Dan also has more of a therapeutic approach to teaching that made me feel like I was working through the mental side of singing that was holding me back. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Dan’s instruction and guidance enabled me to make an album I never thought I was capable of. He is tremendously knowledgeable and patient. He’s also a problem solver on the fly. If there was something I wasn’t understanding he would change tactics and explain it in a different way until I got it. I have spent 100’s of hours under his tutelage and there was never anything other than respect and support for what I was trying to accomplish from him. He will change your life as a vocalist. He’s also fluent in every style of singing so anyone from any music discipline can gain from him. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Working with Dan has been completely enlightening and it is such a joy to see my friends and fans noticing a difference in my performances. Being confident in my vocal instrument goes beyond singing better, the confidence I’ve found through my voice studies with Dan have influenced the way I think about performing at its core.
The first thing that struck me when beginning our work together is that he understood what kind of singer I wanted to be: I’m a rock and roll singer, and a folk singer, not a broadway singer. Having had a few vocal lessons throughout the last 15 years of performing I was always left more discouraged and overwhelmed by all the “techniques” I had to learn to become a better singer. From the first lesson with Dan I felt comfortable and encouraged to talk about, not just the physicality of my singing, but the trauma and psychosomatic blocks I developed as a young singer that are still with me today. Dan doesn’t only teach you how to “sing properly”, he shows you that you’re already a beautiful singer and you just need to unlearn some bad habits, step by step. Sometimes I find myself laughing to myself during our lessons because I can see the 80’s montage happening in my head where he’s asking me to do bizarre things like throw a toddler-like temper tantrum while singing, and I don’t understand why yet, but then, out of nowhere, a break through-- like Dan is my Mr Miyagi, and I’m The Karate Kid, painting the fence until I realize i’m ready to block a low kick.
