I'VE BEEN TEACHING SINGERS JUST LIKE YOU FOR OVER 27 YEARS, AND LOVE IT JUST AS MUCH TODAY AS THE DAY I STARTED.

When I began voice lessons as a teen, I was a rock singer with above average pitch, a halfway decent range, and a slew of bad habits. My breathing was shallow and disconnected, and my body was a ball of tension whenever I opened my mouth. Most notes I sang were pushed, pressurized, pinched -- yet I somehow managed to sound pretty good most of the time.

But the days when I sang well were usually followed by a day or two of my voice feeling tired and strained. And I didn’t know how to do it any differently; my limited knowledge of voice technique came from the crumbs I’d learned in public school chorus, and from listening to my favorite singers, while trying (poorly) to emulate them in my own performances.

Vocal instruction completely transformed me as a singer. I became more relaxed, both physically and emotionally; I developed a much wider range than I'd ever thought possible, and I got myself to the point where I could sing night after night without my voice suffering the following day. The more I learned, the more control I developed; the more I studied, the stronger and more dynamic my voice became.

I eventually went to college for music and classical voice performance while independently studying jazz vocals and singing in several rock bands. Once I begain teaching some singer-friends what I'd learned, I discovered I knew a lot more than I realized, and felt tremendous satisfaction through sharing what I knew to help my friends become better singers. Once I started teaching more seriously, something amazing happened: I found I had both a talent and a true love for helping people become the singers they strive to be.

...AND AS THEY SAY: "THE REST IS HISTORY".

Over my 27-year teaching career, I’ve trained singers of all styles and types, ranging from beginners for whom the whole concept of voice training was alien, to seasoned professionals whose tension habits & anxiety triggers became ingrained through years of performing. And amazingly, I’ve learned as much about training, technique, and performance by teaching my artists as I have from my own teachers and mentors, or in my experiences performing live and in the studio.

Then, nearly two decades ago when social media first started taking over the internet, I found myself corresponding with aspiring singers from all over the world, answering all kinds of questions and offering advice about vocal training, voice care, and performance. Once the volume of messages became too much to keep up with, it became more time-efficient for me to write articles answering the most frequently asked questionos and post them online for my growing audience to read.

OVER TIME, THIS NATURAL TRANSITION HAS LED ME TO TODAY, WITH THE CREATION OF VOCAL BRILLIANCE VOICE TRAINING AND SINGERSBLOG.COM .

I've developed this program to answer the needs, passions, questions, and issues that talented, inquisitive singers have raised with me over the years, both online and in-person. I've designed it to be an ever-evolving entity, it’s growth fueled by the continued questions, input, and contributions presented by the ever-evolving singers themselves for whom it serves.

I love what I do, every bit as much as I did the day I started. I look forward with enthusiasm to continuing to guide you on the journey ahead, and I thank you for joining me this far.

To your diligence and well-earned success,

– Dan Parilis.
